Job Description:
As the Senior Specification Technologist Food Safety, you will manage the maintenance and sign-off of product specifications and associated documentation across all our stores, working collaboratively with various departments.
Responsibilities include:
- Extensive knowledge of Food Law, allergen management, legal food & drink labelling requirements, and horizon scanning for future law changes.
- Supporting the Senior Technical Manager- Supplier & Product to implement Food Safety and Quality policies.
- Working with Food Buying to ensure new products and concessions launch safely and legally.
- Championing accurate completion of product specifications prior to launch, aligned with company policies and ethical trading.
- Managing review and development of supplier assurance and product specification procedures.
- Liaising with suppliers, buyers, and restaurant operations to resolve specification queries.
- Leading communication through Concept to Launch meetings and maintaining specification approval statistics.
- Ensuring effective management of the specification system for accurate product information transfer across departments.
- Supporting Food Safety team with hygiene inspections, training, and complaint investigations.
- Contributing to building a sustainable and circular future through robust supplier assurance and product approval processes.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Organised with strong planning and prioritisation skills.
- Understanding of food labelling legislation and regulations.
- Knowledge of allergen awareness and food composition.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Analytical, results-driven, with data problem-solving skills.
- Flexible and adaptable work approach.
- Member of industry working groups (e.g., IFST, FDF, FSA, Campden BRI).
- Degree in Food Science, Environmental Health, or related field.
- Level 2 HACCP qualification minimum.
