Job summary

Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 7 Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the Stroke and Neurosciences teams at Queen’s Hospital Romford and KGH Goodmayes. The post offers rotations across Acute Stroke care (HASU/ASU), rehabilitation and neurosurgical/neuroscience services.

You will lead high‑quality assessments, manage dysphagia and communication disorders, and work with VFSS/FEES as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong background in Stroke/Neurosciences with extensive dysphagia and communication disorder experience in acute/rehabilitation settings.
• Competent in VFSS.
• ITU and tracheostomy experience is beneficial; FEES training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive assessments of complex patients using advanced clinical reasoning including FEES and VFSS.
• Develop and maintain highly specialist skills in managing patients in the critical care environment, including tracheostomy and ventilation.
• Collaborate with Consultants Radiology, ENT and other professionals to interpret findings and plan care.
• Provide patient‑centred care across Stroke/Neurosciences pathways and contribute to service development.
