An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Senior Specialist Production Pharmacist to join the Pharmacy Production team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Trust. You will be joining a friendly and progressive department and we are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to take the next step and develop their career in technical services and management. The role is open as Band 8a or Band 7 - 8a progressional post; for pharmacists with a background in technical services who are wanting to progress their skills, knowledge and experience through this progressional post and by completing the PTQA
You will join a team of Pharmacists and Technicians and supporting in progressing the Pharmaceutical Quality Systems and leading on advancement of Clinical Trials in the department. You will ensure current and future Good Manufacturing Practice and professional standards are achieved.
The unit holds ‘Specials’ and Investigational Medicinal Product (IMP) licences as well as aseptic dispensing of products under Section 10 exemption and Pharmacist supervision.
The Pharmacy Production department provides a wide range of aseptic and non-sterile products including monoclonal antibodies, gene therapy, CIVAS, and the manufacture and dispensing of IMPs.
There are a number of exciting developments in the pipeline, providing opportunities to further develop and broaden your skills.
To provide specialist Pharmacist input into the Pharmacy Production Department at UHBW. The unit holds ‘Specials’ (MS) and Investigational Medicinal Product licenses MIA(IMP) as well as dispensing medicines under Section 10 Exemption of The Medicines Act.
The role requires operational involvement in all aspects of the department - participating as an Authorised Pharmacist in the supervision, checking and release of products prepared and dispensed in the department – and involvement in supporting the unit’s quality management systems.
The role includes leading on development of new products to be manufactured within the unit, inclusive of MS Licensed, Section 10 exemption, ATMPs and Access Scheme products. This will involve leading on validation of products and processes.
The appointment to Band 8a is dependent on meeting the criteria for Band 8a detailed in the personal specification. For those appointed at band 7, progression to band 8a is dependent on the successful completion of Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance (PTQA) diploma course.
