Job summary

The Nottingham Building Society is seeking a Specialist Senior Mortgage Underwriter to assess and approve standard and complex mortgage applications within delegated authority. Qualifications

• Extensive mortgage underwriting experience with strong credit risk and affordability assessment.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements including MCOB, Consumer Duty, AML, Financial Crime and Data Protection.
• Experience with complex income structures, adverse credit, non-standard properties and EOB scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Assess and approve residential mortgage applications within delegated authority, including complex cases.
• Manage portfolio of specialist cases and refer outside mandate when needed.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to underwriting policy and process improvements.
• Communicate lending decisions clearly to brokers and customers.
