An opportunity has arisen to join the Specialist Medicine Renal physiotherapy team on a fixed term contract, our friendly department is full of opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic physiotherapist who wishes to develop a range of clinical expertise within the field of Renal physiotherapy.

We are looking for an enthusiastic physiotherapist, with a keen interest in the field of Renal physiotherapy, a wide range of clinical experience, good communication skills, interpersonal skills and a passion for delivering excellent patient centred care. You will have the opportunity to develop your specialist skills and knowledge in the areas of

You will have excellent support from band 7 Physiotherapist and 8a Clinical Lead and work closely with the well-established multi-disciplinary team. Alongside the clinical case load you will have the responsibilities of supervising junior and student physiotherapists, you will be involved in teaching of more staff and support on the new Renal fraility pathway. You will also work closely with the band 7 and 8a Occupational Therapist to help with the continuous development of the services as we have a passion to ensuring a high class patient centred service.

We offer a comprehensive in-service training and induction programme, Internal and external courses are supported, and opportunities for postgraduate study exist.

We are looking to recruit into a fixed-term contract.

Main duties of the job
  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including management of patients in your care.
  • To undertake a comprehensive assessment and re-assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentation.
  • To communicate effectively, using a range of verbal and non-verbal skills, with patients and carers/family to motivate, engage to participate in therapy and to ensure an understanding of their condition.
  • To deal sensitively and constructively with patients and carers/family, who have high levels of anxiety frustration or aggression caused by a variety of issues, such as pain, poor prognosis or limited mobility.
  • To plan and prioritise own caseload independently on a day-to-day basis to ensure patients are appropriately seen, in conjunction with the priorities of the team and to give assistance to other team members as required.
  • To undertake the measurement and evaluation of your own work and current practice through the use of projects, audit or outcome measures, whether individually or with the support of senior staff.
  • To critically appraise published research and use results to inform practice.
  • To assist in the induction, daily supervision and delegation of tasks to band 5 physiotherapists, therapy support workers, students and administrative staff, as required.
