Job overview
Due to continued demand for MSK First Contact Physiotherapists within our local Primary Care Networks, we are pleased to be advertising for further FCP clinicians to join our expanding MSK service.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work within a Primary care setting, managing patients at the start of the MSK pathway and embedding the FCP role within your primary care practices, while remaining fully integrated with our wider MSK service.
You will be welcomed into our diverse group of FCPs working across York and the wider area. We organize weekly Clinical Governance sessions and provide ongoing clinical and personal support. Our sessions include Complex Case Discussions, Critical Appraisal Club, Peer Supervision, Live Supervision, Radiology MDT, and IST sessions.
We partner with various local PCNs in areas including South Hambleton and Ryedale, Tadcaster, Selby, and York. We currently have a vacancy in Selby Town but are open to discussing future opportunities in other areas.
Candidates should already be working as a Specialist MSK Physiotherapist at Band 6 or Band 7 or above, with a focus on patient-centered clinical care and education at the start of MSK pathways.
We look forward to your application!
Main duties of the job
As part of the FCP team, you will deliver this innovative care model within Primary Care.
You will be the first point of contact for GP surgery patients, with MSK patients streamed directly to the FCP clinic by GP reception staff.
The role includes screening, assessment, and diagnosis of MSK conditions, supporting patients to self-manage or directing them to appropriate pathways.
You will assess, investigate, and manage patients, referring to the Community MSK service as needed. Full integration within your PCN and collaboration with the Primary Care Team are essential.
Training and governance are provided weekly, including clinical supervision and development opportunities. There is potential to complete a PGCert in MSK practice, offering professional growth aligned with the HEE FCP roadmap.
