Job summary

The Francis Crick Institute in London seeks an (Senior) Laboratory Research Scientist to support a spatial transcriptomics pipeline using a custom in situ sequencing platform. You will link in vivo function with gene expression and neuronal connectivity, contributing to high‑throughput sequencing workflows and protocol optimization.

Qualifications

• Degree in Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, Bioengineering, or related field
• Hands-on RNA/DNA handling and tissue processing experience
• Experience operating epifluorescence or confocal microscopes
• Basic programming in Python, R, or MATLAB for QC and image analysis
• Ability to optimize experimental protocols and manage inventories

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissue for in situ sequencing
• Develop and optimize in situ sequencing protocols
• Order and maintain sequencing reagents inventories
• Develop gene panels for profiling cell identity/state in situ
• Collect sequencing data with custom setup
• Quality control and preliminary data analysis
• Maintain and develop sequencing setup
• Train users in lab methods and data analysis
