Job summary

San Carlo in Leeds is seeking a Senior Sous Chef to lead daily kitchen operations, ensuring exceptional food quality and presentation. You will manage and train kitchen staff, maintain high standards of sanitation, and drive a collaborative, proactive team culture in a fast-paced environment.

The role calls for strong leadership, meticulous organisation, and the ability to multitask while delivering consistent, high-quality dishes across the menu.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Team management experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail, highly organised and capable of handling multiple tasks.
• A proactive self-starter who can work independently with good judgement and minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
• Overall responsibility of food quality and presentation, sent out to customers
• Managing kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling
• Maintaining a positive and engaged team through 1:1 meetings, incentives and recognition
• Inductions for all new starters in line with company procedure
• Manage the Sous Chefs to ensure all training is to company standards
• Ensuring that all kitchen staff follow food safety and sanitation guidelines and kitchen procedures
• Managing food inventory and ordering supplies as needed
• Ensuring that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and repaired as needed.
• Collaborating with other kitchen staff and restaurant management to ensure that food is prepared and served in a timely manner
• Handling customer complaints or issues related to food quality or service
• Treat everyone with respect and remain calm at all times
