Job summary

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Sonographer to deliver high-quality diagnostic ultrasound across obstetrics, gynecology, abdominal, small parts, vascular and MSK imaging. You will independently manage your own patient caseload, synthesize clinical history with scan findings, and generate accurate diagnostic reports.

You will contribute to CPD, lead audits, supervise students, and teach junior doctors and allied health professionals, while supporting departmental

Qualifications

• Carrying out a range of ultrasound examinations to agreed protocols and standards.
• Providing written reports after synthesising history and scan findings to make a diagnosis.
• Supervising Student Sonographers, Midwives and Student Radiographers; teaching Junior Doctors with an interest in Ultrasound.

Responsibilities

• Carry out obstetric, gynaecological (including trans-vaginal), abdominal, small parts and vascular ultrasound examinations.
• If qualified, carry out MSK ultrasound scans and injections.
• Support A/E, IP and outpatient obstetric scanning at main site; non-obstetric ultrasound off site.
• Grow with training and supportive team; rotation through three sites including Epping and Bishop Stortford.
• Supervise and train students; maintain liaison with Radiology staff; participate in CPD and departmental governance.
