The Portland Hospital for Women and Children is seeking a Senior Sonographer to join the Imaging team in London. You will deliver specialist obstetric and gynaecology ultrasound examinations, provide high-quality diagnostic imaging, and mentor junior colleagues across two outpatient sites on Great Portland Street and Wimpole Street.

You will work with consultants and radiologists to maintain best practice, contribute to governance and education, and support service development within Women’s

Qualifications

• BSc in Radiography or equivalent qualification required.
• Postgraduate qualification in Obstetric & Gynecology Ultrasound required.
• HCPC/NMC registration or equivalent professional registration essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialist obstetric and gynaecology ultrasound examinations and produce accurate diagnostic reports.
• Assess complex findings and communicate information to patients with empathy and professionalism.
• Support day-to-day operation of the sonography service and ensure timely report sharing with patients and consultants.
• Supervise, mentor and support sonographers, healthcare assistants, students and junior colleagues.
• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality assurance and service improvement initiatives.

We’re looking for a Senior Sonographer to join the Imaging team at The Portland Hospital. As part of a leading private healthcare provider, you’ll be working across two well established outpatient sites on Great Portland Street and Wimpole Street, supporting a service that combines specialist expertise with a strong focus on patient centred care. Working alongside highly skilled multidisciplinary teams, you'll use advanced imaging technology and evidence-based practice to provide outstanding diagnostic services while helping to support the development of colleagues across the department.

As a Senior Sonographer within our Women’s Health service, you’ll play a key role in delivering specialist obstetrics and gynaecology ultrasound examinations across a varied and complex patient caseload. You’ll work closely with consultants, radiologists and multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging and exceptional patient care. Alongside your clinical responsibilities, you'll contribute to education, mentoring and service development, helping to maintain the high standards of care and professionalism that our patients and colleagues expect. Your expertise will support both the day to day delivery of the service and the continued development of best practice across the department.

What You’ll Do

• Support the day to day operation of the sonography service and ensure reports are shared promptly with patients and referring consultants.
• Supervise, mentor and support sonographers, healthcare assistants, students and junior colleagues.
• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality assurance and continuous service improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Bring

• BSc in Radiography, Midwifery, Nursing or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Postgraduate qualification in Obstetric and Gynaecology Ultrasound.
• HCPC, NMC or equivalent professional registration.
• Significant experience in obstetric and gynaecology imaging, including complex findings and high probability screening results.
• Experience supervising, mentoring and supporting sonographers or other healthcare professionals.
