Job summary

The Portland Hospital in London is seeking a Senior Sonographer in Women’s Health to deliver specialist obstetric and gynecology ultrasound examinations at two outpatient sites. You will mentor staff, contribute to governance, and support service development while maintaining high standards of patient care.

You will bring postgraduate ultrasound qualifications, HCPC/NMC registration, and extensive OB/GYN imaging experience in a busy setting.

Qualifications

• BSc in Radiography, Midwifery, Nursing or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Postgraduate qualification in Obstetric and Gynecology Ultrasound.
• HCPC, NMC or equivalent professional registration.
• Significant experience in obstetric and gynaecology imaging, including complex findings and high probability screening results.
• Experience supervising, mentoring and supporting sonographers or other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialist obstetric and gynaecology ultrasound examinations and produce accurate diagnostic reports.
• Assess complex findings and communicate sensitive information to patients with empathy, reassurance and professionalism.
• Support the day to day operation of the sonography service and ensure reports are shared promptly with patients and referring consultants.
• Supervise, mentor and support sonographers, healthcare assistants, students and junior colleagues.
• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality assurance and continuous service improvement initiatives.
