Job Description

Working within the Public Safety business, you will be responsible for defining the policies and standards that guide technology delivery, possessing significant experience in modern, cloud-based technology standards and practices.

As Solution Architect, you are accountable for leading a team of architects and providing architectural design and technology roadmaps for complex Policing and National Security applications supporting high volume, mission-critical products and services. There will also be opportunities to oversee ongoing architectural needs within our Control Room application suites.

You will work closely with Product Managers, Delivery, and Technical Leads to influence and define a technology roadmap to meet our commercial and technological goals.

The core aim of this role is to provide technical assurance to ensure successful deployment of NECSWS Public Safety products into clients while protecting our commercial interests.

To succeed, you should be able to mediate between people and explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, especially stakeholders at all levels. You should understand the evolutionary nature of technology delivery in an agile environment and facilitate discussions about high risk and complex issues within constrained timescales.

The Solution Architect will collaborate with project or programme managers and the wider architecture team to:

  1. Ensure scope documentation is accurate and maintained
  2. Identify and manage technical project risks
  3. Agree and document non-functional requirements from customers
  4. Conduct practical impact assessments with well-defined scope and implementation plans, leveraging existing products where possible
  5. Identify opportunities for additional product sales
Qualifications

Understanding/awareness of:

  • C++
  • C#
  • SQL Server
  • Windows platforms
  • Domains / AD
  • Mitel skills-based routing integration

Practical knowledge of some or all of:

  • C coding
  • SIP protocol
  • VOIP – RTP / RTCP, latency, jitter handling

In-depth knowledge of some or all of:

  • Tetra network behaviors – specifically Motorola Dimetra
  • 3GPP network behaviors – related to Kodiak MCX, as a standard
  • MCX API usage of Softil SDK
  • Analogue Radio base stations and features – VHF, MF
  • Telephone PABX functionality
  • Airwave certification processes
  • EISEC service
Additional Responsibilities

The Solution Architect will manage relationships with customer technical staff, support the bid process with technical responses, infrastructure sizing (mainly cloud-based), and clarification support. The role also involves promoting and leading the architectural vision within the team and across wider technology and business units.
