Job summary

Weightmans, a leading national law firm, seeks an experienced Solicitor to join its Disputed Wills, Trusts and Estates team. You will handle a broad range of contentious probate matters, advising high-value disputes and complex administrations.

The role involves collaboration with partners, cross-office work, and opportunities for business development. You will contribute to client advocacy, case strategy and timely delivery while upholding Weightmans’ client-focused, evidence-driven approach

Qualifications

• Proven experience in contentious trusts and probate and private client matters.
• At least 5 years PQE and ACTAPS accreditation, or willingness to work towards.
• Strong litigation and advisory capabilities with commercial mindset.

Responsibilities

• Assist partners with caseloads in contentious probate matters.
• Proactively manage own caseload with limited supervision.
• Supervise junior team members and review work.
• Draft and perform legal research and investigations.
• Attend conferences, court and client meetings.
• Communicate with clients, counsel and other parties.
• Engage in business development and profile-raising initiatives (ConTrA, ACTAPS, STEP, NCPG).
• Potential cross-office work across Manchester/Newcastle/Leeds, with reporting to Ben Wilson.
• Complete client and internal MI procedures.
• Meet financial and chargeable targets; adhere to deadlines and KPIs.
• Follow policies and Weightmans’ values.
