Job summary

AJ Bell is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer to drive quality across UI, API, and back-office processes in a fast-paced, agile environment. You will collaborate with developers and testers to design, implement, and execute robust test automation, including end-to-end testing and 3rd party integrations.

You’ll contribute to test strategy, support UAT and production releases, and mentor junior testers in a hybrid working setup at AJ Bell.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Senior Tester and delegating work within a team.
• Full understanding of the testing lifecycle & methodologies.
• Create automated test scripts using the BDD methodology.
• Maintain and enhance the existing automation frameworks.
• Carry out exploratory testing within an Agile development environment.
• Develop test tools and extend test frameworks and environments.
• Proven experience testing APIs using integration tools.
• Knowledge of Cypress, Gherkin, PactumJS, TypeScript.
• CI/CD experience with Jenkins, Git, AWS CodePipeline.
• Take an automation-first approach to test execution where possible.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Coach/develop testers, review their work, delegate tasks and set objectives.
• Carry out testing across UI, API, back office, and integrations including end-to-end testing.
• Understand and interpret business, functional and technical requirements.
• Understand AJ Bell products and relevant financial services legislation.
• Input into how solutions are developed to deliver the best customer outcomes.
• Execute test scripts and record results using testing tools (JIRA/XRAY).
• Raise bugs with sufficient detail to enable fix and reproduction.
• Collaborate with Project Leads on test automation strategies alongside manual testing.
• Participate in exciting new research projects and PoCs.
• Support UAT and release to Production.
• Apply Agile practices effectively.
