Job summary

Socure is seeking a Software Engineer II – Backend to join our global engineering team. You’ll design, build, and operate scalable backend services powering identity verification and fraud prevention products.

You will work with Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and Data Science/ML teams, owning software from design through production, building APIs and microservices, and improving reliability and observability in a distributed system.

Qualifications

• Practical software engineering experience building backend applications or services.
• Understanding of asynchronous processing, messaging, retries, fault tolerance, and service-to-service communication.
• Familiarity with cloud-native technologies such as AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka or equivalent technologies.
• Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Understanding of source control, automated testing, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Strong programming skills in Go, Java, Python, or a comparable backend language.
• Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical problems methodically and take ownership of solutions through production.

Responsibilities

• Develop reliable, secure, and maintainable production software.
• Work on distributed systems, asynchronous workflows, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability and observability.

• Collaborate with globally distributed, cross-functional teams to solve customer and business problems.
