This solution, trusted by over 100,000 Emergency Services field workers, enhances the management of timesheets, absence, and sickness, driving increased workforce capacity and efficiency.

We are now embarking on a digital transformation of our Workforce Rostering solution, migrating the product from on‑premises storage to a Cloud‑based SaaS model. Alongside this, we will be upgrading the technology stack, moving from legacy technologies to C#, .NET Core, and React.

To support this exciting project, we are assembling a new development team in Birmingham.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in modernising our Workforce Rostering solution. As part of a collaborative development team, you will maintain and enhance the existing platform while contributing to its migration to cutting‑edge technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the existing VB.NET codebase, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Work with SQL Server to create, optimise, and manage complex Stored Procedures and Functions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including Product, QA, and DevOps, to ensure successful delivery of project goals.
• Support the migration of legacy systems to a modern C#, .NET Core, and React technology stack.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software issues in a timely manner.
• Help organise and participate in on call duties to support customers out of hours.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Team Leadership – Providing technical guidance, coaching and mentoring to team members to enhance their skills and performance.
• A minimum of 5 years’ commercial development experience using VB.NET and C#.
• Expertise in SQL Server, including the development and maintenance of complex Stored Procedures and Functions.
• Azure DevOps.
• A solid understanding of software development principles and best practices.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Familiarity with WinForms and WebForms.
• Experience with Azure cloud technologies.
• Experience with Mobile application development and deployments
• Previous involvement in large-scale software migrations or transformations.
