Job summary

Capture is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead architectural direction within the Plan-Apps squad. The role is hands-on, shaping new services, defining interfaces and data ownership while guiding teammates and driving end-to-end delivery in a hybrid London-based setup.

You will own architectural decisions, contribute to shared libraries, and help raise the bar on code quality, security and performance across the platform.

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on experience delivering at senior level.
• Deep knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript with React and Node.js.
• Experience defining technical architecture for non-trivial features.
• Mentoring, coaching or leading a project team.
• Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB) and relational data.
• Strong cloud infra design, deployment and optimization.
• Experience with containers and Terraform for IaC.
• Security and performance considerations in production apps.
• Excellent communication to explain decisions to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and stand up new services with clear boundaries and data ownership.
• Define architecture for features and own end-to-end delivery.
• Make technical decisions with long-term cost in mind.
• Break down ambiguous problems into deliverable work.
• Contribute to shared libraries and improve developer experience.
• Mentor engineers through reviews, pairing and day-to-day support.
• Provide technical leadership across projects and coordinate effort.
• Contribute to hiring via technical interviews and assessments.
• Maintain and optimize cloud infra for reliability, security, and cost.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
