Job summary

Ocado Group seeks a Senior Software Engineer for the Autoplanner team. You will develop and maintain the data and ML platform, APIs, and pipelines behind our AI-driven planning tools, ensuring scalable and resilient production systems across global retailer environments.

You will work closely with data scientists and software teams to deliver integrated applications within the Ocado Smart Platform, contributing to production services and on-call support for mission-critical planning tools.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience focusing on production Python services.
• Expertise in modern, strongly typed Python.
• Extensive experience building data-intensive applications with event-driven architectures and BigQuery.
• Hands-on experience packaging, serving, and monitoring ML models in production.
• Proven experience delivering production async APIs, preferably with FastAPI.
• Strong cloud platform experience with AWS and/or GCP.
• Solid background in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with automated testing.
• Proven software design skills with system architecture and collaboration with data scientists.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the data and ML platform supporting multiple live retailer production environments.
• Package, version, serve, and monitor machine learning models in production for high performance and reliability.
• Build and maintain robust APIs and data contracts for internal teams and dependencies.
• Enhance CI/CD and release pipelines for smooth deployments across environments.
• Evolve the mono-repo structure while delivering production services.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and record ADRs.
• Collaborate with data scientists and cross-functional teams to integrate applications with Ocado Smart Platform.
• Share on-call and production support for mission-critical planning tools.
