Job summary

IAG Loyalty in London is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to shape our Pricing Service, the engine behind Avios rewards. You’ll design, build and operate cloud-native services using Java, Spring Boot and AWS, influencing technical direction while mentoring peers.

You’ll work in a collaborative product engineering team, delivering resilient back-end features end-to-end. The role blends design, development and production ownership in a hybrid London setup.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering with Java and Spring Boot; build scalable APIs/microservices.
• Hands-on AWS experience for cloud native services.
• Experience with Terraform, IaC and modern CI/CD practices.
• Strong knowledge of automated testing, code quality, security, and best practices.
• Experience troubleshooting distributed systems; improve performance via observability.
• Excellent communication; contribute to technical decisions in teams.
• Experience mentoring through code reviews, pair programming and knowledge sharing.
• Comfortable in Agile product teams; own work from design to prod.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools would be desirable.
• Experience with loyalty platforms or travel industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own backend feature delivery from design to production for scalable services.
• Build modern microservices and APIs using Java, Spring Boot and AWS.
• Manage cloud infrastructure and IaC with Terraform.
• Contribute to architecture and technical decision‑making as the platform evolves.
• Promote engineering excellence through automated tests, CI/CD, code reviews, and pairing.
• Maintain service reliability via observability and incident response.
• Mentor engineers and raise technical capability across the team.
