Job Purpose

The BBC is seeking a passionate Senior Software Engineer in Test to work within our RMS team, responsible for building APIs for Sounds’ clients. This role involves working on software at scale, participating in agile teams, and contributing to the development and automation of tests for our products.

Main Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain BDD automation using Java, Cucumber, and RestAssured.
• Plan, define, and execute tests for API releases, including manual and load testing.
• Develop exploratory testing skills and share findings with stakeholders.
• Refactor automation code, analyze automation processes, and improve pipelines.
• Mentor junior team members and collaborate across teams on high-profile releases.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience developing automated API tests in Java, using BDD and Gherkin.
• Proficiency with GitHub, Jira, and agile methodologies, preferably Scrum.
• Experience with manual, exploratory, and load testing.
• Automation code refactoring skills and ability to mentor others.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with CI/CD, Jenkins, AWS, and deployment processes.
