Senior Software Engineer in Test (Remote)

Role Description

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Test excited by the prospect of joining our mission to extend our SME funding platform and to beneficially transform the small business lending market.Our quality assurance (QA) team ensures the quality of the software we release is of the highest possible standard. In this role we are looking specifically for someone who can push our test and deployment automation; simultaneously increasing the confidence we have in the quality while speeding up the time it takes for us to continuously integrate and deploy.

What you'll be doing

You’ll work with our existing QA team to take the requirements the product team give to the engineering team, create test plans which document what testing we need to have confidence in the solution, and then perform the testing, using automation as much as possible. You’ll help the other software engineers create and maintain a highly effective suite of automated tests such that the vast majority of bugs never make it past a developer's environment. You will co-ordinate releases to the sandbox and production environments (though we’re on a journey to have many, software engineer driven, deployments every day). You’ll look for ways for us to automate as much as possible, for example static code analysis, security testing, performance testing, as well as the overall deployment mechanism.

Your profile

Required technical experience:

• 5+ years experience in a software testing role
• Experience with Playwright, Cypress, or a similar testing framework
• The ability to own a suite of automated integration tests
• A deep understanding of the testing pyramid
• The ability to write quality test plans after having digested requirements from the product team, which may be in Figma or other formats
• Familiar with CI/CD, especially ensuring pipelines ensure quality without slowing things down
• Experience with version control such as Bitbucket or GitHub
• Ability to perform initial investigation when something is not behaving as expected
• Knowledge of cyber security, and how to test for it

Collaboration & delivery:

• The communication skills to collaborate effectively with a number of stakeholders, including but not limited to engineering leads, product owners, and DevOps engineers
• The ability to understand high level problems defined by the product team, and ensure that the software being produced to meet the problem really solves the problem

Nice to have:

• TypeScript or JavaScript experience
• Docker experience
• Experience with Jira

• Cloud e.g. AWS experience
