Senior Software Engineer I

Location: Belfast

Contract: Full time, Permanent

EverQuote is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing team!

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a senior member of the team, instrumental in designing and delivering key business applications and solutions. You will have input in architecture decisions and ensure we build scalable, performant, easy-to-maintain, and cost-optimized solutions. Join a talented, collaborative team eager to grow and deliver. You will also serve as a mentor, providing technical insight and guidance.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Designing and delivering key business applications and solutions.
• Coaching and mentoring junior engineers within the team and organization.
• Adhering to our Software Development processes and improving our engineering culture by identifying and addressing inefficiencies.
• Engaging proactively with cross-functional stakeholders including Product Managers and Architecture team.

Qualifications:

• A third-level degree in Information Technology or Computer Science-related field.
• 5+ years of professional programming experience, including at a software product company.
• Experience in supporting cloud platforms at scale (AWS), infrastructure as code, container orchestration environments (preferably Kubernetes), and observability platforms.
• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language.
• Experience with continuous integration and deployment tools.

Skills and Experience:

• Security-first approach with a focus on secure delivery of applications and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with container-based solutions such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in deploying infrastructure via Terraform.
• Knowledge of cloud-native services (AWS).
• Experience with engineering systems/applications at scale and microservice architecture.
• Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment tools.
