The Product

OCI Functions is a fully managed, multi-tenant, highly scalable, on-demand Functions-as-a-Service platform, deployed in dozens of commercial, government, and private data centers around the world. The deployment model is extremely flexible, supporting a wide variety of use cases. OCI Functions is rapidly becoming the platform of choice for Oracle SaaS workloads, supports the API Gateway for serving customer applications, and facilitates Data Science processing use cases.

The Positions

Senior Software Engineer

As we expand and grow our team, we are seeking engineers with varying levels of experience. Beginners will have a hunger and passion for learning, while experienced candidates will bring diverse skills in programming, networking, storage, internet protocols, and operating systems. An engineer at any level can make a significant technical and business impact.

As a member of our diverse and skilled teams, you will have the opportunity to solve and design solutions for challenging problems in distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure, and highly available services.

The Responsibilities

On a typical day, you will work as part of a small, focused, agile team and may be involved in:

• Writing backend code in Java, Python, Go, or other modern programming languages.
• Working with containerization and virtualization technologies such as Docker, containerd, and Kubernetes.
• Deploying and operating software in data centers worldwide.
• Analyzing, diagnosing, and debugging issues across the entire stack.
• Maintaining and improving existing systems, focusing on performance and operational efficiency.
• Building tooling and automation to scale operations.

Participating in the software engineering community at Oracle and beyond, including:

• Discussing complex technical problems and building consensus among teams.
• Designing and implementing new features or services for customers.

All engineers participate in operating and supporting the product in production and take part in a 12x7 on-call PagerDuty rotation, typically every 5-7 weeks depending on team size.
