The Product

OCI Functions is a fully managed, multi-tenant, highly scalable, on-demand, Functions-as-a-Service platform, deployed in dozens of commercial, government and private data centres around the world. The Functions deployment model is extremely flexible, allowing it to support a wide variety of use cases. OCI Functions is rapidly becoming the platform of choice for Oracle SaaS workloads, backs the API Gateway for serving customer applications, as well as supporting Data Science processing use cases.

The Positions

Senior Software Engineer

We are seeking engineers with varying levels of experience to join our expanding team. Whether you are starting your career or bringing extensive experience, you will have the opportunity to make a significant technical and business impact. You will work within diverse, skilled teams to solve and design solutions for challenging problems in distributed systems, virtualised infrastructure, and highly available services.

The Responsibilities

On a typical day, you will work as part of a small, focused, agile team doing one or more of the following:

• Writing backend code in Java, Python, Go Lang, or other modern programming languages.
• Working with containerisation and virtualisation technologies such as Docker, containerd, and Kubernetes.
• Deploying and operating your software across data centres worldwide.
• Analyzing, diagnosing, and debugging issues across our stack.
• Maintaining and improving existing systems, focusing on performance and operational efficiency.
• Building tooling and automation to scale operations.

Participating in the software engineering community at Oracle and beyond, including discussing complex technical problems and designing new features or services for our customers. All engineers participate in operating and supporting the product in production, including a 12x7 on-call PagerDuty rotation, typically every 5-7 weeks depending on team size.
