Job summary

Hiscox London Market Engineering Team is seeking a motivated software engineer to join one of our squads. You will work on Cloud-First solutions, transforming on-premises and cloud systems while embracing AI-assisted development tools and an agentic SDLC.

You will collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-quality software. The role requires strong C#/.NET, SQL, CI/CD and Azure experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in a related field or 5+ years in software engineering.
• Strong C# and .NET experience with unit testing.
• Strong SQL skills for production databases.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and source control.
• Azure technologies: Functions, SQL, Storage, API Management, Service Bus.
• Familiarity with Blazor, Angular or React.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical work within your squad to deliver business value.
• Write and review clean, maintainable code with best practices and testing.
• Ensure documentation is accurate and up to date; mentor others.
• Share knowledge and foster continuous learning within the team.
• Contribute to solution design with stakeholders to ensure scalable implementations.
• Collaborate across teams to shape architecture and promote best practices.
• Champion security and engineering standards across the team.
• Adopt AI-assisted development tools and evolve towards agentic SDLC.
• Coordinate with distributed teams across the UK, Portugal, Poland and India.
