Job summary

Our client, a global energy technology organisation, seeks Software Engineers to design, develop and modernise high‑performance rock physics applications for desktop and cloud environments. You will work with the Team Lead and Product Owner to steer technical direction, adopt cloud technologies and AI‑assisted engineering tools while delivering robust software and maintaining performance.

This opportunity is based in Abingdon, with flexibility for Aberdeen or London for suitably experienced

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Experience designing, developing and modernising high‑performance software in desktop and cloud environments.
• Strong knowledge of object‑oriented design, patterns and SOLID principles.
• Experience migrating mature C/C++ codebases while maintaining performance and numerical accuracy.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted development tools and modern cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain complex desktop and cloud‑based software applications.
• Develop high‑quality production software using C# and .NET.
• Apply OO design principles, patterns and SOLID principles.
• Produce scalable, well‑tested software solutions.
• Contribute to automated testing, version control, and CI/CD processes.
• Use AI‑assisted development tools and code generation technologies.
• Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions and technical decision‑making.
