Job summary

Evri is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our remote team and help deliver scalable software for millions of customers. You will drive architecture, design, and implementation across backend and frontend stacks, working with cross-functional product and delivery teams.

The role offers opportunities to mentor teammates, improve automation, and contribute to cloud-based, secure, highly available solutions within a growing UK logistics technology platform.

Qualifications

  • Significant software engineering experience in Agile delivery.
  • Proficient in Java and Spring Boot or equivalent production-grade app design.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability tooling.
  • Understanding of DevOps and modern delivery practices.
  • Experience collaborating across engineering, product, and delivery teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development, deployment, and support of complex software features.

Senior Software Engineer - Build Scalable Technology at Evri

This is a remote role with travel into Morley when required.

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll lead the delivery of complex features and services, working closely with Product Managers, Architects, Engineers and Delivery teams. You’ll champion engineering excellence, mentor colleagues, and help drive continual improvements in quality, automation, reliability, and performance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, deployment, and support of complex software features and services.
  • Build scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that align with architectural standards.
  • Collaborate with Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams to shape technical solutions and influence requirements.
  • Drive engineering best practice through clean code, design patterns, testing strategies, and code quality standards.
  • Mentor and support engineers through coaching, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and pair programming.
  • Champion automation, CI/CD, observability, and DevOps practices to improve software delivery and reliability.
  • Ensure solutions meet security, performance, scalability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for process, tooling, and engineering practice improvements.
  • Contribute to technical strategy, engineering standards, and architectural decision-making.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and advocate for innovation where it delivers business value.
What you’ll bring
  • Significant experience in software engineering within Agile delivery environments.
  • Java and Spring Boot; or
  • Experience designing and building scalable, production-grade applications.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability tooling.
  • Understanding of DevOps principles and modern software delivery practices.
  • Experience collaborating across engineering, product, and delivery teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A passion for mentoring others and supporting team growth.
