Qualifications

• Proven experience building successful, low-maintenance enterprise applications and digital solutions.
• Strong software design and programming skills (Javascript, HTML, XML, SQL, Apex, SOAP, C#, VB.net) and experience with Microsoft .NET and Visual Studio.
• Experience in using AI tools such as Claude code to fast prototype solutions and mentor other developers in such technologies.
• Forward-thinking and agile, able to manage multiple projects with flexible prioritisation, anticipating future changes to ensure scalability and opportunity.
• Proficient in data analysis, process optimisation, and working within change governance and project delivery methodologies (Waterfall & Agile).
• Excellent communicator, able to translate technical information to non-technical colleagues and bridge gaps between development teams and stakeholders.

The E.ON I&C Pillar combines the current npower Business Solutions & E.ON B2B businesses to create a new £5billion revenue business serving c60,000 customers and around 300,000 meter points with a view to becoming the number one B2B energy supplier in the UK. The Digital Technology & Change organisation is the integration consisting of Change Management, Digital Data and Technology & Partner and Service Management functions to provide Change & IT services to the E.ON I&C business. The Senior Software Engineer is a key member of the nBS Digital Solutions team and is responsible for leading the build, optimisation and support of effective digital solutions, software and applications . The role holder is required to provide expert consultancy on the solution design, specification, development, build, functional and user testing, deployment, migration and warranty provision of nBS owned and managed digital solutions. The role-holder will have an in-depth and highly specialised knowledge of the nBS Digital Solutions application portfolio, associated business processes and data contained within the systems. The role holder is required to demonstrate the highest levels of creativity in solution design and delivery, keeping abreast of the latest system and industry developments, design and coding trends and has persistence to deliver beyond expectation.

• Responsible for developing new digital solutions to satisfy business requirements within the nBS product backlog to drive delivery of project benefit to nBS. A chief practitioner in application development for nBS.
• Responsible for delivering first class support and maintenance of delivered solutions, ensuring solution performance always meets expectations, application stability and delivering solutions to meet defects or changes within agreed SLAs
• Responsible for supporting E2E delivery of change projects using own knowledge and expertise within the project.
• Working in partnership with third party developers and EON Digital Technologies to optimize solution delivery for nBS.
• Responsible for environment management and maintenance, including any hosting, integration, access and security considerations.
• Responsible for self-learning and development on solution development platforms, practices and techniques
• Acting passionately as an advocate for innovation, continually challenges traditional thinking.
• Driving insight and value add from interpretation of customer or user behaviour through detailed usage analytics.
• Responsible for communicating & interacting effectively with internal or external colleagues and management to explain complex system issues clearly and concisely.
• Providing trusted technical expertise and specialised knowledge of the nBS Digital Solutions portfolio to impact-assess proposed changes or technological opportunities.
• Ensuring that all developments, enhancements and support fixes adhere to the DD&C governance model.
• Responsible for mentoring the developer team. Supporting them with technical expertise, escalating issues and blockers effectively and professionally.
