Burberry is seeking a passionate software engineer to join their dynamic team in London. The role involves collaborating closely with other engineers and the Tech Lead to develop high-quality code, focusing on Node.js and React technologies. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of agile practices and be committed to continuous improvement and innovation.
At Burberry, we believe creativity opens spaces. Our purpose is to unlock the power of imagination to push boundaries and open new possibilities for our people, our customers, and our communities. This core belief has guided Burberry since 1856 and remains central to our operations today.
We aim to foster an environment where creative minds from diverse backgrounds can thrive, bringing a wide range of skills and experiences to everything we do. As a purposeful, values-driven brand, we are committed to being a force for good—creating sustainable luxury, driving industry change, and championing our communities.
Although Burberry is a well-known FTSE 100 company, we have few tech boundaries; our microservices platform was recently implemented on serverless AWS technology—so successful that we presented at AWS Summit in Las Vegas.
We continually trial beta versions of AWS and other tech solutions, maintaining regular communication with AWS to explore new features and capabilities.
Our tech stack primarily includes Node.js for backend development and React for frontend. Infrastructure as Code is managed using Terraform or AWS CDK. We are also developing an internal open-source shared library to support our platforms.
Automation is a priority for us. We utilize GitLab for CI, Snyk for security testing, and have an internal performance engineering team to ensure high standards.
Our platforms are highly stable, with a focus on building new features and exploring innovative technologies. We have significantly reduced critical incidents through investments in Observability, with teams responsible for their applications in production ("Run What You Wrote").
Supporting a global customer base, we tailor online experiences for various regions, overcoming technical restrictions and optimizing for all devices to deliver a high-quality luxury digital retail experience worldwide.
Key responsibilities include:
The candidate should have experience with the technologies and skills outlined above.
