Job description

Senior Software Engineer - Up to £70,000 DOE

Location: Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

Working: Hybrid - minimum 3 days per week in the office

A growing technology business is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its development team and play a key role in the continued evolution of a complex software platform.

This is a highly hands-on position, ideal for an experienced developer who enjoys solving difficult engineering problems and wants genuine ownership over the software they build. You'll spend the majority of your time writing, testing and reviewing production code rather than moving into people management.

The team is developing a new PMS product alongside an established legacy .NET platform. The long-term aim is for the new product to gradually take over existing functionality, creating a challenging environment where good engineering judgement and incremental improvement are more valuable than large-scale rewrites.

You'll work across complex domain logic, architectural improvements, scalability, resilience, testing and observability, while contributing to the development of stronger engineering standards across the team.

Strong software engineering fundamentals are more important than having a specific number of years working with .NET. Experience with C#/.NET, unit testing, APIs, cloud platforms, CI/CD and modern engineering practices would be highly relevant.
