Senior Software Development Engineer

We're looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Developer Experience engineer to join our team! As part of this role, you will work closely with our customers (fellow Capital One Engineers), partners, and your team to enable and empower engineers across our UK Tech organization. You will be working within our Amazon Web Services Cloud environment to build and contribute to our global CI/CD platform, build tooling, and enablement capabilities that reduce frustration and accelerate the pace at which engineers can deliver.

Our Developer Experience teams work closely with our engineer customers daily to support adoption of enterprise tooling and capabilities, identify and solve friction in the software delivery lifecycle, and build a culture of continuous improvement in how we deliver software at Capital One.

You will be joining a passionate and diverse team that strives to greatly enhance customer experiences every day.

What you'll do

• Support and enhance the adoption and enablement of evolving software delivery lifecycle platforms
• Deliver core engineering features and improvements for engineers in the UK and US to use daily in delivering software at Capital One
• Support, maintain, and develop our core systems, improving our internal customers' journeys towards CI/CD
• Enhance our AWS deployment and validation mechanisms
• Build relationships with platform-owning teams to support prioritization and inner sourcing opportunities
• Operate as a Developer Advocate within Developer Experience, building a network across engineering to identify friction and opportunities for improvement
• Operate beyond the IDE, striving for the right solutions to engineers' problems, not just building tools and features

What we're looking for

• A passion for improving every developer's experience
• Comfort working across various technologies and platforms to solve complex problems
• An analytical mindset focused on delivering value for the organization and customers, aligned with stakeholder expectations
• Experience with infrastructure as code, test-driven development, and CI/CD
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Java or TypeScript and software development principles
• Solid understanding of AWS or other cloud platforms
• Excellent communication skills, willing to engage, share knowledge, and lead among peers
• Willingness to participate in local and industry events as an attendee or speaker

Where and how you'll work

This is a permanent position based in our Nottingham or London office.

We operate a hybrid working model: in-office 3 days a week (Tues, Wed, Thu), and remote on Mon and Fri. We are open to flexible working arrangements to suit your needs.
