Job description

We are a young, entrepreneurial global expert in connectivity and data management services, focusing exclusively on the media and entertainment industry. In short, we allow creatives to collaborate on content wherever they are in the world. We do this by providing an extensive range of SaaS/PaaS solutions backed up by unrivalled technical support which enables them to manage and transfer valuable and critical content quickly, securely and effectively. Our media network is the largest and most established private, high-performance network for the media industry connecting the leading studios, production and post-production facilities across the globe.

The Role

We're growing the ClearView Rush dev team — a brand new video review and collaboration platform to be used by major studios and production houses worldwide to review dailies, cuts, and production assets securely from anywhere. Rush sits within Sohonet's ClearView Review Suite, handling everything from high-quality video streaming and transcoding through to cross-device playback and studio-scale user management. Rather than hiring for a single slice of the stack, we want versatile engineers who go deep in at least one area and are comfortable contributing across others. Whether your background is in backend services, frontend interfaces, video engineering, or native app development — if you care about building a great product and you're drawn to the challenges of video streaming at scale, we want to hear from you. We're particularly interested in candidates with strengths in video engineering or native device development, as these are areas where we're looking to grow our in-house expertise. That said, we value strong fundamentals and good judgement over any specific language or framework. Our belief is that great developers can pick up new tools — especially in an environment where AI-assisted development is making cross-discipline work more accessible than ever.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute meaningfully to the design, build, and evolution of ClearView Rush — taking ownership of features end-to-end, from problem definition through to production.
  • Work across the stack as needed, while bringing depth and expertise in your area of specialism — be that backend services, frontend UI, video processing pipelines, or native device applications.
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and the rest of the dev team to understand user needs, untangle complexity, and ship thoughtful solutions.
  • Make sound technical decisions — choosing the right tool for the job, balancing pragmatism with quality, and thinking about maintainability and scale.
  • Help shape our engineering practices, tooling, and architecture as the team grows.
Requirements

Significant professional experience as a software developer, with demonstrable depth in at least one of the following areas:

  • Video engineering — FFmpeg, GStreamer, HLS/DASH streaming, transcoding pipelines, and the lower-level languages (C/C++/Rust) used to extend or build upon media frameworks
We also expect:
  • A genuine interest in video streaming, media technology, or the creative tools space. You don't need to come from the industry, but you should be excited by the domain.
  • Pragmatism and good engineering instincts — you know when to build it properly and when to ship it now.
  • Comfort working in a small, collaborative team where you'll wear multiple hats and have real influence over the product.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows. We actively use AI tooling across our development process and expect all engineers to do the same — not as an afterthought, but as a core part of how we work.
  • Learn new technologies - We won’t ever expect you to do the same thing day in day out; we want to give you the chance to explore the latest techniques to solve challenging technical problems and help you become the best developer you can be.
  • We are a full-time remote development team so you’ll be working remotely. However, it’s also possible to spend days at the office in Soho.
  • The opportunity to make a difference - We’re here to transform the way the media industry works and communicates. The switch to digital delivery platforms has opened up the opportunity to introduce new tools and working methodologies.
Diversity Statement

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
