Job summary

Powys County Council is seeking a Principle Social Worker to support the Assessment team in day-to-day management and case oversight. You may step into a management role as required, with support from team managers.

Qualifications

• Ability to respond promptly to safeguarding concerns in a calm, nurturing manner.
• Good IT skills to access information swiftly.
• Assertive and professional in multi-agency discussions with knowledge of All Wales Child Protection Procedures.

Responsibilities

• Attend strategy discussions with Front Door SW team and contribute to threshold decisions and risk assessment with Police and Health colleagues.
• Chair strategy meetings for open cases within the team.
• Support SW staff with planning Sec47 and CAWAs; use mapping to plan intervention with families and develop strength-based questions to manage risks.
• Supervise unqualified staff and, when needed, qualified staff; both formal and informal supervision.
