Senior Social Worker - Social Care Direct

Social Care Direct has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to join our team.

Social Care Direct is the first point of contact for all new referrals to Wakefield Council. Your role involves triaging these referrals, providing urgent responses, offering advice and information, and signposting. Responsibilities include handling requests for social care assessments and safeguarding referrals. As a Senior Social Worker, you will also attend multi-agency meetings and lead in championing new initiatives and team developments. It is expected that you will be a practicing Best Interest Assessor, AMHP, Practice Educator, or ASYE Assessor.

The majority of work is conducted over the phone, requiring excellent communication skills. The role is varied, suited for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and has strong time management and prioritization skills. The team does not hold cases long-term, making it ideal for social workers who prefer short-term and crisis intervention work.

Work hours include coverage until 7 pm on some evenings and from 9 am to 5 pm on weekends, so some out-of-hours work is expected. We offer flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to work from home regularly.
