Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join the Supporting Independence Through Review Team in Reading. You will manage a varied, complex caseload, provide leadership, coaching and oversight, and work with partners to promote wellbeing and person-centred outcomes.

The role requires a degree in social work, registration with Social Work England and extensive post-qualifying experience in Adult Social Care.

Qualifications

• Qualified and registered Social Worker with significant post-qualifying experience in Adult Social Care.
• Experience of managing complex caseloads, safeguarding concerns and statutory duties.
• Excellent knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and safeguarding legislation.
• Strong assessment, analytical and decision-making skills.
• Ability to coach, mentor or supervise colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Manage a complex caseload within Adult Social Care with timely interventions.
• Undertake assessments, reviews, and support planning in line with statutory duties.
• Lead on complex casework including safeguarding and risk assessments.
• Provide professional advice and mentoring to team members.
• Deputise for the Team Manager when required.
