Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Senior Social Worker for the Learning Disability & Autism team in West Essex. You will lead complex assessments, mentor colleagues and chair multi‑agency meetings to advocate for adults with learning disabilities.

You will manage a diverse caseload, ensure adherence to the Care Act, and work within a supportive, innovative environment that values development and partnership working. Driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• AMHP, BIA or Practice Educator qualification.
• Proactive and passionate Social Worker with proven experience handling complex cases.
• Ability to mentor both newly-qualified and experienced colleagues in complex situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance and mentoring to colleagues.
• Assess and support with comprehensive, person-centred care plans.
• Ensure compliance with Care Act requirements and organisational standards.
• Manage complex caseloads and maintain high professional practice.
• Collaborate with Council and partners to shape high-quality solutions.
• Represent Adult Social Care in multi-agency meetings.
