Job summary

West Northamptonshire Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Learning Disabilities Team in Northampton. You will manage complex cases, conduct strengths-based assessments, and lead safeguarding enquiries to promote independence and wellbeing.

The role requires Social Work England registration, a full UK driving licence, and the ability to work 37 hours per week with some visiting or office-based work. DBS may be required.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Experience working within Adult Social Care, preferably Learning Disabilities.
• Experience managing complex cases and undertaking risk assessments.
• Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Apply detailed knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation and local policies.
• Undertake person-centred assessments and develop outcome-focused support plans.
• Manage a complex caseload and respond to crises.
• Deliver high-quality social work interventions using evidence-based practice.
• Make safeguarding decisions and lead enquiries in line with procedures.
• Promote Making Safeguarding Personal and positive risk-taking where appropriate.
• Build partnerships with carers, families, and partner agencies.
• Prepare reports and represent the service in court when required.
