Job summary

Tripod Partners is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join the Children’s Services Duty Team in Rotherham on a maternity-cover basis. The role focuses on managing referrals, safeguarding children and ensuring timely statutory actions.

The successful candidate will handle a caseload, undertake assessments, and work with partners to secure positive outcomes for children and families within required timescales.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Recent experience in Children's Services Duty, Assessment or Front Door teams.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and confident professional decision-making.
• Able to manage a busy caseload and meet statutory timescales.
• Excellent assessment, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience working in fast-paced duty environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of about 20–22 children.
• Undertake high-quality assessments within statutory timescales.
• Progress cases efficiently, aiming for transfer or closure within ~45 days.
• Respond to safeguarding concerns and keep children central to decisions.
• Collaborate with partner agencies and internal teams.
• Maintain accurate case recordings and reports.
• Participate in the duty rota and adapt to workload pressures.
• Exercise sound professional judgement in a fast-paced setting.
