Job summary

Sandwell Children's Trust is seeking a Senior Social Worker for the Child Protection & Court team in Sandwell. You will manage complex child protection cases, lead on proceedings, and provide courtroom evidence while supporting colleagues across the service.

The role requires registration with Social Work England, expertise in safeguarding and care proceedings, and strong written and verbal communication. A permanent post with ongoing professional development is offered.

Qualifications

• A recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
• Experience of child protection and care proceedings work, including PLO and court.
• Sound knowledge of Working Together to Safeguard Children and statutory processes.
• Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Hold a caseload of more complex work and act as a source of practice expertise for the team.
• Support, mentor and co-work with newly qualified and less experienced colleagues.
• Manage a caseload of children subject to Child Protection plans and care proceedings.
• Lead on PLO and care proceedings, writing high-quality court statements and care plans.
• Give evidence in court and work alongside legal services and Children's Guardians.
• Work with families and partner agencies to reduce risk and secure permanence for children.
