What you will do:
  1. Provide a professional social work service to adults, their families, and carers in Surrey in line with the Care Act.
  2. Engage effectively with individuals, families, groups, and communities to assess and intervene, using professional judgement to employ a range of interventions.
  3. Work autonomously in complex situations, assessing and managing higher levels of risk, while liaising with a wide range of professionals.
  4. Assist individuals, carers, and families to develop support plans, using an asset-based approach and community options while promoting choice and control.
  5. Actively promote wellbeing and independence, enabling individuals and carers to retain or regain skills and confidence.
  6. Ensure compliance with the Care Act and other relevant legislation, particularly when using advocacy services and conducting mental capacity assessments.
  7. Promote and sustain a learning culture and support the professional development of less experienced social workers.
  8. Serve as a practice educator for social work students and an ASYE assessor and supervisor for newly qualified social workers.
Specific qualifications and experience required:
  1. Recognised social work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, CSS, BA Hons Social Work) and current registration with Social Work England.
  2. Significant post-qualification professional experience in a social care or community-focused multi-disciplinary setting.
  3. In-depth knowledge of relevant national and local policy, statutory guidance, and legislation related to social care services.
  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate with empathy and authority in complex situations, effectively engage individuals and families, and manage challenging conversations.
  5. Competency in using IT and basic numeracy skills, with experience in providing professional reflective supervision.
