Job summary

Remedy Recruitment Group is supporting Shropshire Council in recruiting a Senior Social Work Practitioner to join the Kinship fostering team. You will work to keep children safely within their family networks, delivering timely, high-quality assessments and relationship-based practice.

You will complete Form K assessments, carry out viability and SGO assessments, provide supervision to kinship foster carers, and collaborate with partners to secure permanency within statutory timescales.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Experience in Kinship/connected persons fostering.
• Experience with SGO assessments and permanence planning.
• Experience with viability assessments.
• Experience supporting and supervising foster carers.
• Strong analytical and report-writing skills for court and panel.
• Ability to manage risk, safeguarding, and complex family dynamics.
• Committed to safe outcomes for children.

Job description

Our client Shropshire council is looking for a Senior Social Work Practitioner to join their Kinship fostering team.

You will be supporting children to remain safely within their family networks wherever possible. You will play a key role in achieving permanency for children through timely, high-quality assessments and strong relationship-based practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete Form K assessments to assess connected persons as foster carers.
• Undertake viability assessments to inform early permanence planning.
• Carry out SGO assessments, including support plans and court reports.
• Provide regular supervision and support to approved kinship foster carers.
• Support carers to manage placement challenges, contact arrangements, and transitions to permanence.
• Work closely with children's social workers and multi-agency partners to ensure coordinated care planning.
• Ensure all work is child-centred, evidence-based, and within statutory timescales.

About You

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
