Job summary

Deerfoot IT Resources Limited is seeking a Senior Snowflake Developer to join a risk reporting function in London. The role involves migrating legacy platforms to Snowflake, dbt, and Python, with four days on-site per week in London.

You will design, build, and optimise data solutions for risk and regulatory reporting, shaping the future-state architecture and working with senior business stakeholders on high-profile programmes. This is a 6-month contract Inside IR35.

Qualifications

• Proficient Snowflake development with dbt for transformations and deployment.
• Advanced Python development for data engineering tasks.
• Strong SQL Server experience including design, tuning and troubleshooting.
• Solid grounding in data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling.
• Experience engaging with senior stakeholders in financial services is preferred.
• Knowledge of regulatory reporting and cloud migration is desirable.

Senior Snowflake Developer

Are you a Senior Snowflake Developer who wants to build the data platform behind risk reporting at a leading financial services organisation?

We're recruiting for two contract Senior Snowflake Developer positions in a risk reporting function that is moving legacy Microsoft data platforms onto Snowflake, dbt and Python. You'll help shape the future-state architecture and work directly with business stakeholders on high-profile regulatory and risk reporting programmes.

The hiring manager joined via us, so we have a close relationship with them and a detailed understanding of the team and what they need. Most agencies won't have that.

What You'll Be Doing

• Designing, building and maintaining scalable Snowflake data solutions for risk, finance and regulatory reporting
• Building and optimising ELT/ETL pipelines and reusable dbt transformation frameworks
• Developing Python-based processing, automation and integration, and designing dimensional and analytical data models
• Tuning Snowflake queries and workloads for performance and cost, and resolving complex production issues
• Supporting the migration of legacy platforms to the cloud and contributing to architecture and technical standards
• Running requirements workshops with business stakeholders and providing technical leadership through delivery

What You'll Bring

• Extensive hands-on Snowflake experience, with strong dbt for transformation, modelling and deployment
• Advanced Python development for data engineering and automation
• Strong SQL Server experience, including database design, optimisation and troubleshooting
• Solid grounding in data warehousing, star schema and dimensional modelling, plus source control and CI/CD
• Banking or financial services background, ideally credit or market risk, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders
• Desirable: Control-M, Power BI, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Azure data services, Snowflake Streamlit, cloud migration, near-real-time processing, AI or generative AI tools, market, credit or counterparty risk, regulatory reporting, capital and liquidity reporting

Please note: this role needs four days a week on site in London on an ongoing basis.
