Job summary

VIQU IT Recruitment has partnered with a large-scale logistics organisation to appoint a Senior Site Reliability Engineer. The role is fully remote with quarterly travel to Leeds and involves hands-on delivery with leadership responsibilities over a small engineering team.

You will focus on AWS reliability, IaC, CI/CD improvements, monitoring and incident resolution while enabling scalable, secure platforms for production systems.

Qualifications

Proficient in AWS and IaC using Terraform/CloudFormation/Pulumi/OpenTofu.
Experienced with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Concourse CI.
Strong Linux/Windows administration and scripting (Python/Bash/Go).
Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and mentor others.

Responsibilities

Improve AWS infrastructure reliability, security and scalability.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code and automation.
Improve CI/CD pipelines and application deployment processes.
Troubleshoot complex production issues across applications and infrastructure.
Implement monitoring, dashboards, SLOs and SLIs.

Fully Remote | Quarterly travel to Leeds

VIQU has partnered with an established, large-scale logistics organisation looking to appoint a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to help strengthen the reliability, performance and scalability of its technology platforms.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced SRE or cloud infrastructure engineer who enjoys hands-on technical challenges and wants to develop their leadership responsibilities without moving away from engineering.

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you'll spend approximately 80% of your time on technical delivery and 20% on people coordination, delegation and supporting a small team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Improve AWS infrastructure reliability, security and scalability.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code and automation.
Improve CI/CD pipelines and application deployment processes.
Troubleshoot complex production issues across applications and infrastructure.
Implement monitoring, dashboards, SLOs and SLIs.
Support containerised environments and shared engineering tooling.
Work with development and architecture teams to improve engineering standards.
Delegate technical tasks, provide guidance and support junior engineers.

Key Requirements of the Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Strong hands-on experience working with AWS.
Practical Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, OpenTofu, AWS CDK or equivalent.
Experience provisioning and managing infrastructure using version-controlled code rather than primarily manual configuration.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Concourse CI or similar.
Experience with Docker and container registries.
Strong Linux and/or Windows administration skills.
Scripting experience using Python, Bash, Go or similar.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues.
Strong communication skills and the ability to delegate work and support colleagues.

Previous formal management experience is not required. Experienced hands-on engineers looking to step into leadership responsibilities are encouraged to apply.
