Job summary

Merritts Brook Primary E-ACT Academy in England is seeking a Senior Site Officer to deliver a comprehensive facilities service across premises security, lighting, heating, cleaning, and general maintenance. You will oversee contractors and coordinate day-to-day site operations to ensure the academy’s environment is safe and well-maintained.

The role requires experience in caretaking, a relevant trade qualification or willingness to work towards one, and an IOSH/Health & Safety qualification.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks including plumbing, joinery, painting and basic electrical work
  • Maintain academy security, alarms and liaise with security services
  • Oversee contractors on site and ensure work meets required standards
  • Organise day-to-day tasks and act as main site contact when Estates partner is unavailable
  • Report to Estates Business Partner on health, safety and compliance

We are seeking a Senior Site Officer to provide a comprehensive service at Merritts Brook Primary Academy covering premises security, lighting, heating, cleaning, general maintenance, plant operation, and porter/handy person duties.

Key responsibilities:

Reporting to the Estates Business Partner, this post holder will be accountable for:

  • Conduct routine testing and maintenance of fire alarms, emergency lighting, and firefighting equipment to ensure health, safety, and compliance standards are met.
  • Maintain security of the academy premises, including key holding duties, alarm monitoring, and liaising with security services.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks such as plumbing, joinery, painting, plastering, and minor electrical work.
  • Oversee and coordinate contractors on site, ensuring work is completed to the required standards.
  • Organise and prioritise day-to-day tasks, acting as the main site contact when the Estates Business Partner is unavailable.
Pay range:

SCP 18-22 - £32,578 - £34,811

37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Maths & English GCSE or equivalent or willing to work towards
  • Relevant maintenance/trade qualification or willingness to work towards
  • IOSH or recognised equivalent Health and Safety qualification
  • Experience of a range of caretaking and cleaning duties
