Job summary

Thorn Baker Construction seeks a freelance Senior Site Manager in Faringdon, Oxfordshire to oversee a school building project and a student services building. You will directly manage a Site Manager and an Assistant, ensuring projects progress to meet quality, time, and cost targets.

The role requires strong leadership, clear communication, and robust health and safety governance on site, with reporting to senior management and clients.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Site Manager, preferably on new build school projects.
• Demonstrable track record of managing multiple site operations simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of construction techniques, health and safety regulations, and quality standards.
• Experience coordinating and supervising site teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of site operations for the new build classroom block and student services building.
• Supervise, support and direct the Site Manager and Assistant Site Manager to ensure efficient workflow.
• Ensure adherence to health and safety legislation and company policies on site, including site inspections and risk assessments.
• Maintain effective communication with clients, subcontractors and suppliers to resolve issues and maintain momentum.
• Monitor progress against schedules and budgets, identifying and mitigating risks or delays.
• Prepare and present regular reports on progress, quality, safety, and cost control to senior management and clients.
• Ensure site personnel hold appropriate qualifications and that documentation is up to date.
• Promote best practices in construction methods, quality control and environmental considerations.
