Job summary

Thorn Baker Construction is seeking a Freelance Site Manager for a contract position in Faringdon, Oxfordshire. You will oversee a new build school project, coordinating with the Project Manager and an Assistant Site Manager to deliver safely, on time and to quality standards.

The role involves supervising subcontractors and onsite teams, maintaining programmes, and ensuring strict site documentation and environmental standards. Requires SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid and DBS clearance.

Qualifications

• SMSTS certificate is required.
• CSCS card is required.
• First Aid at Work qualification.
• DBS check required.

Responsibilities

• Manage all onsite construction activities in line with health and safety legislation and company policies.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and site operatives to meet project timelines.
• Monitor progress against the programme and report updates to the Project Manager.
• Conduct daily site inspections to ensure quality control and resolve issues promptly.
• Manage site resources including materials, plant and labour to maintain productivity and cost efficiency.
• Ensure all site documentation, risk assessments, method statements and diaries are kept up to date.
• Promote best practice in sustainable construction for educational builds and engage with stakeholders.
