Job summary

Hays Construction is seeking a Senior Site Manager for a complex, £40m+ refurbishment in the centre of Reading. The role is site-based, reporting to the Project Director, and focuses on CAT A and CAT B delivery with a long-term outlook.

You will lead site teams and subcontractors, coordinate finishes and services, and ensure safe, on-programme delivery while maintaining high quality across multiple internal packages through to handover.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering CAT A and CAT B fit-out works.
• Strong background in major refurbishment or commercial fit-out projects.
• Experience managing internal packages from commencement through to handover.
• Ability to coordinate finishes, mechanical and electrical services, and specialist trades.
• Experience managing subcontractors and site-based delivery teams.
• Strong short-term programming, planning and sequencing skills.
• Good understanding of quality control, inspections, snagging and handover.
• Clear communication with project teams, consultants and subcontractors.
• SMSTS, First Aid and a CSCS card.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day delivery of CAT A and CAT B internal packages.
• Manage site teams, supervisors and subcontractors to programme and standards.
• Produce and manage short-term programmes and sequencing.
• Coordinate internal trades and building-services packages.
• Monitor progress against the main construction programme.
• Oversee quality inspections, snagging and remedial works.
• Identify design, programme and delivery issues early.
• Collaborate with design and commercial teams to resolve issues.
• Maintain high health and safety standards and report progress to the Project Director.
