A leading global Consultancy seeks a senior geotechnical engineer based in Leeds. Responsibilities include managing ground investigations and supervising site works across sectors like nuclear and utilities. Ideal candidates will have an earth sciences degree, strong communication and report writing skills, and relevant certifications. Working for a well-renowned Consultancy, you will be based in Leeds, with most of your time on site as part of our client's ground investigation team. Your coverage will primarily be in the North, contributing to their national services providing geotechnical and geo-environmental solutions to private and public sector clients. The sectors include nuclear, utilities, water, MOD sites, and general construction.
The role involves managing geotechnical and geo-environmental ground investigations, supervising site works such as borehole drilling, sampling, groundwater and ground gas monitoring, and soil and rock logging according to BS5930. As part of a larger team, the Consultancy offers mentoring and tailored training to support your career development.
Skills: An earth sciences degree, preferably in geology or a related field, is ideal. You will spend most time on site, usually within 1-2 hours of Leeds, with occasional travel further afield requiring overnight stays. Excellent report writing and communication skills are essential, along with a good understanding of site HSE protocols relevant to ground investigations. As this is a senior role, you will also manage site works across various sectors.
About you: A relevant CSCS card, SMSTS training, and CAT and GENNY certifications are required. Experience with Openground software and the ability to attain SC clearance are advantageous. Commercial awareness, including understanding project finances and forecasts, would also be beneficial.
