Job summary

Search Consultancy LTD is assisting a well-established civil engineering contractor in Scotland to recruit a Senior Site Engineer. The role oversees engineering and setting-out on site for rail and infrastructure projects, supporting site teams to meet drawings, specs, and safety standards.

You will provide technical guidance, manage setting-out, levelling and surveys, and collaborate with design teams to resolve issues and ensure quality delivery across a varied portfolio in Scotland.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer role within civil engineering, rail, infrastructure or a similar construction environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of setting out, surveying, construction methods and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Experience managing engineering activities and supporting or mentoring junior engineering staff.
• A good understanding of health and safety, quality assurance and construction site procedures.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to resolving technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Managing and coordinating all engineering and setting-out activities on site to ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Providing technical guidance and support to Site Engineers and other members of the site team.
• Undertaking and overseeing setting out, levelling, surveying and dimensional control activities.
• Reviewing construction drawings, specifications and technical information, identifying discrepancies and resolving engineering issues.
• Monitoring quality assurance, ensuring inspections, records and site documentation are completed accurately and in line with project procedures.
• Liaising with Site Managers, Project Managers, subcontractors and design teams to coordinate activities, monitor progress and ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
