Job summary
Sweet Projects is seeking a Senior Site Engineer to oversee day‑to‑day engineering delivery on major construction packages at our Hayes data/IT project site. You will lead technical efforts, coordinate interfaces, and ensure compliance with approved information and quality standards.
Role requires extensive site engineering delivery experience, strong knowledge of construction sequencing, and the ability to manage RFIs and technical queries.
Qualifications

- Temporary works coordination or supervision experience required.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing.
- Experience managing technical queries and producing detailed engineering records.
- Data Centre experience is desirable.

At Sweet Project Construction Limited, (SPCL), we work with the data, defence, and energy sectors. We are a comprehensive design, construction and engineering provider, offering services spanning site acquisition, architecture, and refurbishment to client occupancy. In our world, there are no simple projects, only specialist needs and clever solutions.
We are a general contracting business, drawing on over forty years of specialised industry experience to provide excellent service, sustain long-term partnerships and achieve the highest quality outcome for key clients, whilst maintaining financial commitments.
This role is to be initially based on our Union Park project in Hayes. As principal contractor we are constructing 18 Data Halls of approximately 1250m2 each, to be deployed at approximately 24MW of total useable IT power. Part of the development included the construction of an adjacent High Voltage Electrical Compound. This was linked to a Medium Voltage Energy Centre with dual backup power generation. The building mass consists of a series of staggered blocks, surrounded by an internal one‑way circulation system with both soft and hard landscaping.
The MV Energy Centres are located either side of North Hyde Gardens are smaller in scale providing a stepping down appearance towards the Grand Union Canal. The HV Energy Centre is located to the east of the MV Energy Centre to the side of North Hyde Gardens. A single storey Visitor Reception Centre enabling security protocols for visitors and employees is located near North Hyde Gardens.
The Senior Site Engineer is accountable for the day‑to‑day engineering delivery of allocated project packages.
The role provides technical leadership during construction, coordinates engineering activities, manages technical interfaces and ensures works are delivered in accordance with approved information, quality requirements, construction methodologies and project governance requirements.
- Experience delivering site engineering activities on major construction or infrastructure projects
- Experience as a temporary works coordinator or supervisor
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing
- Experience managing technical queries and producing detailed engineering records
- Data Centre experience desirable
- Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status desirable
- CSCS Manager Card
- Temporary Works Coordinator qualification desirable

- Provide day-to-day engineering support to construction teams
- Resolve technical issues and engineering constraints affecting delivery

- Support workface planning activities and construction sequencing
- Ensure engineering deliverables, approvals and technical information are available ahead of construction activities
- Identify engineering constraints and implement mitigation measures
- Lead day‑to‑day engineering activities for the allocated package, including establishing site control, setting out, surveys, and all relevant checks
- Coordinate engineering resources and technical priorities
- Ensure engineering outputs support programme objectives
- Manage technical queries, RFIs and engineering communications
- Coordinate design interfaces, temporary works interfaces and engineering approvals
- Support resolution of technical and construction issues
- Implement inspection and testing requirements in accordance with approved procedures
- Management of QA process, in-line with Sweet Projects policies and minimum standards
- Contribute to management of snagging and handover process
- Ensure works comply with approved designs, specifications and quality requirements
- Support management of NCRs and corrective actions
- Monitor engineering progress and support reporting requirements
- Escalate delivery risks and engineering concerns
- Maintain accurate engineering records and project documentation
- First-time quality performance
- Technical query resolution performance
- Inspection and test completion rates
- Engineering productivity
- Reduction in defects and rework
- Quality of package handover information
- Compliance with engineering and quality requirements
The duties listed are not exhaustive and may be varied from time to time as dictated by the changing needs of the Company. The post holder will be expected to undertake other duties as appropriate and as requested by his/her manager.
The post holder may be required to work at any of the locations at which the business of Sweet Projects is conducted.
